Ann-Margret (Valsjöbyn28 april 1941) is an American actresssinger and dancer, originating from Sweden.

Ann-Margret was born Ann-Margret Olsson as in Sweden, the daughter of Gustav Olsson and Anna Aronsson. She moved with her family to the United States when she was a child. There she grew up in Wilmette and was naturalized in 1949 to American.

Ann-Margret was discovered by George Burns when she sang in a nightclub. In 1961 she got a contract with RCA, but that was not a success. The studio wanted to let her break through as the female Elvis Presley and let her sing the single Heartbreak Hotel . They got a small hit, I Just Don't understand. After the only successful album The Beauty and the Beard to have released in 1964, her contract with RCA ended in 1966.

Ann-Margret got her breakthrough in her film career in 1961, when she next to Bette DavisGlenn Ford and Hope Lange appeared in Frank Capra's Pocketful of Miracles.This was followed by a supporting role in the remake of the musical State Fair in 1962.

Ann-Margret In 1963 was a great Star, when she Kim McAfee, one of the main characters, played in Bye Bye Birdie (a movie based on the Elvis-mania at the time). She was just better known when she during the filming of her next film, Viva Las Vegas, got an affair with fellow Elvis Presley, who, at the time, had a relationship with Priscilla Presley. The affair received a lot of attention in the media. Despite the fact that Presley the affair ended, the two remained good friends until Presleys death.

In 1963 they granted her voice as "Ann-Margrock" on an episode of The Flintstones. Decades later, she sang the title song for The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas .
